Giving Back

Change a Childs life, so they can Change the Future

I’ve been asked many times over the years why do I donate to children’s charities? It’s not really a question of why I donate… People seem to understand the act of giving back. The question is more why do I choose children’s charities to donate to, and more specifically why Lilliput Families? The answer is simple: children are the future. They need a home; they need love and attention.  Research suggests that children prosper better when they are in a permanent home. Both of my children are adopted and giving back to an agency that helps find permanent homes (and “forever families”) for children is near and dear to my heart.  Helping kids and wanting the best for them comes natural to me and I feel so incredibly lucky to have the means to help in some small way.

I began the year with the goal to reach 30 transactions in 2021 to make a donation of $3,000 in teddy bears or cash. Thanks to my wonderful clients and hours of hard work, I was able to make another contribution to Lilliput Families. My 2021 goal was exceeded, and I am so happy to have reached 36 closed transactions for a total contribution of $3,600!

On Thursday, November 4, 2021, Lilliput Family Services held a virtual fundraising event to celebrate National Adoption Month and families who have adopted. I was proud to be one of the event sponsors. For more information about future fundraising events, please visit their website at:

Yesterday, August 16, 2021, was a humbling experience. You may have seen my YouTube video,, that ended with me in tears. There are so many children in the foster care system, and they have so many needs to be met. It isn’t a child asking for a video game or expensive toy. The children in foster care need basics like socks, underwear, shoes, school supplies, and comfort. Children are expensive, and especially with today’s rising costs of things due to the pandemic, sometimes the families need help for things like getting the child to a doctor’s appointment, providing an expensive calculator for the kids in advanced math, etc.

Many children and foster families need help. I am so happy that I was able to contribute to making lives better for some. With the financial support that comes from my clients trusting me to help them buy or sell a home, I was able to donate $2,600 from 26 real estate transactions this year. And with the added contribution of many stuffed animals from Pamela Burton, a client, some of the children will now have a new buddy by their side. Thank you again for your help to make some very special kids smile.

At the end of the year, I will make another donation. But more help is needed.

"Without a doubt, this was one of our best home buying experiences! Leah provided us with a comprehensive and varied selection of properties to view, and her in-depth knowledge of the Sacramento area was beyond helpful. She devoted many hours, and worked diligently (and so patiently) with us every step of the way to ensure that we found the perfect home! Leah is professional, personable and extremely thorough. We were well informed, supported and completely happy during the entire purchasing process. From the initial site visits, to inspection, and the final walk through, Leah was there. We never had to wait on anything, as Leah was always one step ahead...we felt like we were her only clients! If you are looking for the most competent, trustworthy, and delightful agent who knows the vast Sacramento area and truly has your back - look no further!"

"Leah is an outstanding Realtor®. She helped us buy our family's first and forever home in River Park. From day one, she was our advocate, cheerleader, and prayer warrior. She took care of all the behind-the-scenes work, managing a 22-person transaction team with skill and grace. She handled obstacles with diligence and persistent communication. She also managed our expectations well by explaining industry standards, and also allowed us to make decisions for our transaction that fit our family's needs. She was never afraid to seek advice and support from her vast pool of knowledgeable mentors at Coldwell Banker, and always got us the best up-to-date information. We felt cared for and protected during our entire process. Best of all, we closed on our new home in 37 days with a VA loan because of her willingness to pick up any slack from the rest of the team. Thank you so much Leah for your friendship, flexibility, and can-do attitude!"
